Elise and Matty Hu-Stiles live in Austin, Texas Washington, DC with three cats, a beagle and a small human. They are both online journalists at NPR, where Matty is the data editor on the News Apps team and Elise is working on better marrying the broadcast and digital newsrooms.
We originally joined NPR to coordinate editorial strategy and guiding a team of reporters for NPR’s StateImpact network. Previously, we helped launch the online news organization, The Texas Tribune, where they covered Texas government and politics. Elise’s interest is in new story forms and multimedia projects; Stiles’ focus is technology and data-driven investigative journalism.
We have completely opposite personalities.
In the fall of 2012, we released our coolest joint project to date — Baby Eva. Eva’s talents are sleeping for 13 hour stretches, smiles and efficient eating. (These are not unlike her mother’s talents, actually.)
